Youthful Howard Lovecraft starts his enterprise by heading off to the Butler Sanitarium with his mom to visit his dad Winfield Lovecraft, a patient there who has been made frantic by something he's finished. Howard's dad goes into a fit of suspicion and dread, asking his child to crush a book that he ought to have never composed. The kid doesn't shout amid the episode, yet goes home with a little blessing - a paper star made by his dad. When home, Howard's interest is an excessive amount of and he starts to peruse his dad's book. He's drawn into a dim, frosty universe of enchantment and misdirection. The book recounts a place - R'yleh - a "kingdom depicted as an unholy marriage of children's stories and bad dreams." Unwittingly, the kid peruses a couple words written in the book in an abnormal dialect - and is sucked through an entire in the texture of the universe.
